Spaghetti Dinner—LaDonna Anderson and
Joan Holverson want to remind you that they
are already collecting items of value for the
Silent Auction to be held the night of the Spaghetti Dinner.  With so many of our members “downsizing” their living arrangements, we have truly been able to offer beautiful antiques, collectibles and/or services these past years.  If you need to get your items picked up now, let us know.  We can store them.  Items don’t have to be “things,” as such—our highest priced items the last few years have been “services.”  This includes things like Italian and Indian dinners, baked rolls monthly, a pie a month.  Give it some thought and let them know what you can contribute. -Kathryn LeBrasseur, Publicity

“Celebrate our Blessings!” This is a big week!!! The Stewardship Committee has our pledge sheets ready for us! Deciding on our personal annual pledge to our wonderful Church demands much thought! As you are thinking about what to give, think about the fact that this year stewardship and recognizing our over 90 members and friends are combined under “Celebrating Our Blessings.” That gives us real food for thought! How much of the joy and memories we share in our Church Family do you relate to our “over 90” members who have played the major role of stewardship over the years? Plan to join in the Celebration on October 12th.

“Celebrate our Blessings!” According to the dictionary, a “blessing” is something that brings
happiness!! We members of First Congregational UCC have many things that bring us happiness but we have selected Sunday, October 12th, as a special Sunday to celebrate a couple of special ones! Part of the celebration will be the conclusion of the Stewardship Drive where we are asked to “celebrate” by donating financially to our Church. The other part will be the cele-bration and recognition of our members who are over 90 years of age!!!! We will “celebrate their aging” and the contributions to our faith lives they have given us! If indeed, a blessing is something that brings happiness, just think of all the times one of our honorees has touched your life in a positive and helpful way! Nineteen of our members have been identified as being in that age group! We are truly blessed. Do plan to celebrate with us at our traditional “bring in the harvest of grain and game” following services on Sunday, October 12!! -Kathryn LeBrasseur

Spaghetti Dinner—Hope you have written Spaghetti Dinner across the calendar block on Wednesday, November 5th!! The Management Team is getting organized and there will be an opportunity for you to sign up to work your area of choice next Sunday!!! Hear Diane Alveshire already has the “music-to-dine-by” group lined up and they are looking forward to returning. Not only are they invited back by “popular demand,” they are coming because they love being part of this major family event and they aren’t even members of this Church! This is a truly “special gathering.” -Kathryn L., Publicity

Herberger’s Community Days…are scheduled for November 14th and 15th. This presents us with a wonderful and painless way to raise money toward the mission work of our Church each year. Last spring we were the fifth top fundraising group in our area, thanks to the efforts of 12 women and those of you who purchased a book!! Hopefully you will consider making this $5 donation again. You pay $5 for a book of coupons that provides major discounts on the majority of items in the store. WE KEEP THAT $5! We give you the booklet and you already have gained $5 as there is a $10 coupon you can use on any item over $10 you purchase. Pretty simple? You spend $5. We gain $5 and you gain $5. Books available after Church and in the office! –Kathryn LeBrasseur, Publicity

Ecumen Bethany Community will have their annual All-Saints Service on Sunday, October 5th, at 2:00 pm. A “Must Read” – Copies of our revised Safe Church Policy and Conditional Attendance Agreement are available at the back of the sanctuary or from the Church office. Everyone is encouraged to familiarize yourself with these new documents. Thank you–Church Council

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7TH, Worship With Us at Pilgrim Point Camp! We have reserved the recreation hall at Pilgrim Point Camp for our annual Camp Worship service on Sunday, September 7th. There is PLENTY of parking! The camp is just a 15-minute drive from town. The address is: 2059 Pilgrim Point Rd NW, Alexandria, MN 56308. Take CR 34 North (past Carlos Creek Winery); turn left at the sign for the Camp on Pilgrim Point Rd. Following worship, we will enjoy a potluck meal. Please bring a cooked dish to share, a salad, or dessert. Table service and beverages will be provided. Envelopes marked “Pilgrim Point Camp” are available at the Ushers’ table if you’d like to make a donation to the Camp. Checks should be made payable to the Church and marked for the Camp. That way you will be able to get credit on your giving statement for the Camp donation. Thank you!

Note: Since we will be at the Camp on the 1st Sunday of the month (which is usually KXRA broadcast Sunday), our broadcast will be aired on the 2nd Sunday in September, which is September 14th, instead.

The New (Pink) Phone Books have been printed and assembled (thanks to my volunteer team of Sandy Hill & Quinn, JoAnne Norling, Celesta Podolske and Romayne Strand) and are available at the back of the sanctuary on the pedestal.-Barb, office

Even when you are away on vacation—please do your best to keep your financial pledges current. Our bills and expenses keep on coming and thanks to your contributions, we are able to keep on
serving. If you need a copy of your giving statement, please contact the Church office and one will be prepared for you. Thanks again, and have a wonderful, joyful, restful (?!) vacation and return safely to us.

In an Effort to be More Accessible, we have re-configured our seating for Sunday fellowship. Since the big round table is closest to the back of the Church, it is best suited for folks in wheel chairs and those who use walkers. Note that the upright pedestal tables are furthest from the sanctuary and are best suited for those who do not require seating. Let’s try this new seating arrange-ment for a couple of weeks and see what adjustments may be necessary. Thank you

Thank You for Sitting Further Forward—Not only will you have a better view of things on Sunday morning, but our many guests who watch the service on Charter Cable 7 and U-stream will know that someone is actually IN Church! Thank you for your flexibility.

Please Vote for Hymn-sing Sundays: The Ushers will have some yellow “ballots” on which you may indicate some of your favorite hymns that we might sign on the last Sunday of each month for our Hymn-sing Sundays. Please place your ballot in the offering plate anytime and we’ll draw from the ballots on the last Sundays of each month. Thanks for your input-Worship Planning Team
